Time for you, for the family and for to-do lists

Homelife

While we are a social and active lot, there’s always plenty of time for the joys of homelife.

It’s 2023 out here too! So the familiar modern comforts and essentials are available. We have enviable internet speeds ready for your next binge and great mobile coverage in town. Some of our towns even offer free wifi in the main street.

Plenty of project potential

A Saturday scanning the shelves of the hardware for you next reno or yard project is still on the cards.

Yes, we can have green lawns, sprinklers and swimming pools. Depending on the season, veggie and flower gardens are sprouting in the garden.

For the nuts and bolts of life, there are hardware, auto-parts, gardening, furniture and produce shops and suppliers.

And for some extra help about the place we have mechanics, panel beaters, painters, plumbers, electricians, gardeners, computer and IT services.

There’s no missing out

Flights direct and connecting through to Brisbane and Townsville operate out of local airports. Major centres like Longreach have daily flights, whereas smaller centres like Boulia, Birdsville or Windorah have less frequent schedules for multi-stop, or locally referred to as ‘milk run’ routes. Keep an eye out for ticket sales and booking in advance to save.

Qantaslink currently services the Brisbane to Longreach, Barcaldine and Blackall route, and Rex Airlines services other routes including Longreach – Townsville.

Greyhound bus also operates the daily Brisbane – Mount Isa service which stops in Tambo, Blackall, Barcaldine, Longreach and Winton.

By road can often be an easy option when travelling to and from the region, with all of our towns connected by sealed roads.

Local tip

Visit the library – Need a computer, internet access or printing, a quiet space to relax in the aircon, give the kids something to do or want to request the latest best-seller?

Our local libraries dotted across our region’s towns have fantastic, modern facilities and a raft of planned activities throughout the year especially for kids, mums and bubs, seniors and more. Librarians are also a fountain of knowledge well beyond books.
